UXBRIDGE, March 23 - The Uxbridge Secondary School junior boys hockey team, comprised mainly of UMHA Minor Midget players, today defeated St. Mary's 2-1 in a hard fought game three. Congratulations boys!
The USS senior team, consisting of many UMHA players and Alumni, is currently at the OFSAA tournament in Peterborough after defeating St. Mary's Senior team for LOSSA. They are undefeated so far. Go Uxbridge! |

After an amazing regular season with a first place finish in the Lakeshore League, the Uxbridge Minor Midget “ A” Stars will now face their greatest challenge yet playing for the OMHA Championship. The Stars defeated Belleville, Ajax, Lindsay and then Orillia to secure their spot in the Championship round and will compete with Welland for the OMHA title.
The team ended their regular season and playoffs with a stunning record of 46-10-6 and finished in the finals or semi finals in 4 of the tournaments they entered. A major highlight for the boys was when they won the Silver Stick Qualifier in Vaughan after Christmas which advanced them to the International Silver Stick tournament in Newmarket. After defeating three U.S. teams in their round robin they made it to the semis and lost a hard fought battle by only 1 goal.
The Stars have had a tremendous amount of injuries to deal withthis season but the boys have pulled together to get the job done. Outstanding goaltending by Jake Joosten and Cody Northoverhas been a definite factor in securing their victories. High flying offensive play by Derek Dolan, Callen Hageman (A), EthanIanuzzo, Jared Jylha, Jack Macdougall, Jason Simmonds (C), Cameron Warriner, Todd Winder, Matthew Winnitoy, andBraeden Whitehead has kept them on the scoreboard. While Owen Barry, Paul Barton (A), Trenton Cooper, Liam Knoll (A), Ryan Locke and AP Wes McGann have been sound defensively while contributing to the scoring.
Doing a great job of keeping the boys’ heads in the game and reminding them to play their game has been Coach Brent Barton, Assistant Coach Kevin Smith, Trainer John Mcdougall and Manager Chris Christie.
